El Panchan

The Hub

This is the area for greeting and scheduling. It’s a small two story building approx 20’x20’ with floor and roof.

Jaguar

This is the main area for performances and talks. It’s a circular building appox 40’ in diameter. We will need to tarp over the roof as it’s open to the sky right now.

Ceiba Clearing

There is a large area that is open, approx 75’x40’. We could build a communal sculpture here from jungle vines and branches and use the space for dancing and yoga

Tortoise and Hummingbird

An area for meditation, breathwork, visioning and storytelling. This building is approx 40’x40’with a covered roof.

Fawn

The second floor of this building could be used for connecting, community building and tea drinking!

Quetzal

A small building over by the cabanas. Seats 20. Quiet and tucked away at the end of a long bridge.

Don Muchos Restaurant

This Italian restaurant serves the best home made pasta and has a wood fired pizza oven. It has a stage with all the equipment to have live music. This is on the other side of the stream from us, and not part of our site.

El Mono Blanco Bar

This bar has a small stage and all the equipment to have DJs. This is on the other side of the stream from us, and not part of our site.

Chato’s Cabanas

This is where most people will be staying. They have clean, comfortable cabanas to rent.

You can get a glimpse of the location by clicking the following links: El Panchan is the location of the festival. Palenque is the ancient ruined city, just moments away from the festival site. The entire area is covered in cloud forest, the most magical surroundings you could possibly imagine.

The story of El Panchan, just a few steps from the entrance of the Palenque ruins, is one of ecological renewal. Only a few decades ago it was completely clear of forest, having been used as a cattle ranch, but has been diligently reforested by our host Don Moisés Morales and his family, and is now returned to rich rainforest ecosystem.

Needless to say, our respect for this land runs deep, and we are absolutely committed to returning the awe inspiring nature which will surround us to a better state than we found it, and we expect each and every participant of this event to also make that commitment.

The site itself is tucked in the back corner of El Panchan and benefits from the restaurants, cabanas and artistic community that thrives there.

Small paved trails lead you through this jungle labyrinth of unbelievably green foliage, dotted with cabanas, juice bars, tour guide booths, laundry service, restaurants and bars. There’s also a tattoo artist, a second hand bookstore and the Maya Exploration Center- a Non Profit Research and Education Center.

The corner of El Panchan where the festival is being hosted used to be an eco resort called Rakshita’s. Now overgrown, the buildings on the property which used to be a meditation center, restaurant and various accommodations have been stripped of most of their materials, leaving only the floor and the roof.  (You can see them in the photos below). They make the ideal foundation for our event, with the structures intact for us to fix up and decorate, giving us shelter from the rain.

The accommodation is nearby in the cabanas, so the festival site itself will be reserved for group activities.
